Essentially the full suspension bike will tend to weigh a good 2 pounds more than your closest mate’s hard tail moutain bike, unless you’ve spent way more money and given up paying the mortgage this month. With more money being spent, then you can expect the weight of the frzame to nose dive – i repeat this will cost you £800+ at the very minimum.

Its a well know fact that full suspension mountain bikes require the rear shocks to be serviced, either by mailorder or at your local dealer. This will include pivot lubing and sometimes replacing broken or worn parts.

You have probably experienced this yourself when trying to climb rapidly up a hill after someone ona hard tail bike; some of your energy is going straight into the forks and not into the wheels. this can slow your climb down considerably. However, saying that your down hill speed will be amazing and you’ll love it. In addition you will be able to retain a lot more control over the bike whilst you are hooning dowen the side of a grassy hill.

The full suspension does have the added bonus of reducing the fatigue you feel on long journeys too…. which is nice

If you can afford a good one, then go for the full suspension mountain bike.
