The company were founded in 1974 in a So Cal garage, Mongoose has always been an innovator. From their first product – cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to the current crop of BMX, Mountain and pavement bikes, Mongoose is synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose bikes don’t just push the limits. They set new ones, well so they say….. Lets put them to the test!

Even to this day Mongoose, are getting plenty of attention (and praise) for their extremely capable Teocali MTB, which has been remarkably successful. Not surprising, given its thoughtful design and what we think is a very affordable price tag.

They showcase two separate product lines (one for discount stores, and one for bike shops) that are mostly BMX and mountain bikes, and their current range may not be as expansive as other brands. However they do offer a bike for nearly all budgets. Fans of extreme sports, such as the X Games, will also appreciate their extensive involvement via sponsorships; you knew you’d seen taht logo somewhere didn’t you?

Mongoose’s Teocali suspension bikes have been around for a few years now but don’t seem to have made big inroads. That’s a shame, because the unusual suspension setup and generally excellent value for money usually make for a good ride.
